BATTLE OF THE BANDS & CENTER FOR CIVIC ENGAGEMENT:
For the first time ever, MUPC will be working with the Center for Civic Engagement to make the Battle of the Bands a community awareness & philanthropic event.
MUPC staff and the featured bands have chosen Hunger & Homelessness in the Corvallis community as the social issue to highlight during this evening. As a result, MUPC & CCE have invited 3 very important community partners to table at the event and provide ways for the OSU community to become involved:
Jackson Street Youth Shelter:
“Homeless and runaway teens. Youth in crisis. Jackson Street Youth Shelter in Corvallis, Oregon, gives youth a safe place to live and resources that get them on the road to a better life. Founded to fill a gap in local support services for housing homeless youth, we serve Linn and Benton Counties and rely on donations and partnerships from throughout the Corvallis and Albany areas.”
Linn Benton Food Share:
“For more than 30 years, Linn Benton Food Share has been feeding Linn and Benton counties, because we are committed to the idea that no one goes hungry in the two-county area we serve. In order to efficiently move food to those in need, we work closely with local nonprofit groups throughout Linn and Benton counties.”
OSU Food Pantry:
“Needing some food for your family at no cost to you? Students and Non-Students Welcome! We serve everyone! Go to the OSU Emergency Food Pantry, which is located in the Snell/MU East International Forum. Emergency food is also available weekdays from 9-5 in Snell 230. The Food Pantry is open twice a month, check the schedule online!”
Come prepared to learn more about your own community and find ways to make a hands-on difference! Some organizations will also be bringing donation jars: cash, spare change, or checks can be accepted! Thank you in advance for making a difference in your community.
We hope you join us on Mat 31st and June 1st for this years Battle of the Bands & Flat Tail Music Festival! We can't wait to have you all in the heart of campus!
